Parent letter
September 10, 2020
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back to the 2020/2021 school year! I hope that you all had a restful, safe and enjoyable summer despite being in the middle of a crazy pandemic. I am hoping that with the safety protocols put in place that I can set your mind at ease and we can have a healthy and safe school year. I am really looking forward to a great year with your son/daughter. I will be communicating with you mostly via email regarding your son/daughter’s progress. It is imperative that we work together to ensure that your child has a successful year. The following are a few things that will help your son/daughter off to a great start.
Your support in these areas will be of great value to your son/daughter and myself. If you have any questions now or during the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]
Thanks again and I look forward to a great year :)
Yours truly,
Shelley Wiwchar

Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back to the 2020/2021 school year! I hope that you all had a restful, safe and enjoyable summer despite being in the middle of a crazy pandemic. I am hoping that with the safety protocols put in place that I can set your mind at ease and we can have a healthy and safe school year. I am really looking forward to a great year with your son/daughter. I will be communicating with you mostly via email regarding your son/daughter’s progress. It is imperative that we work together to ensure that your child has a successful year. The following are a few things that will help your son/daughter off to a great start.
- BE ON TIME. Punctuality is extremely important as we start our lessons at 8:30 am sharp. ENTER AND EXIT via classroom fire door. Upon entry students will have their temperature taken and go to one of the wash bins to wash their hands. If a student has a fever, parents will be contacted immediately for pickup.
- MASKS-recommended to wear in busier areas outside learning cohorts. Can be worn voluntarily in the classroom.
- HOMEWORK –Make sure that backpack is packed up the night before to ensure that all materials and AGENDA is ready to bring back to school.
- SCHOOL SUPPLIES: I strongly urge you to purchase school supplies through the school, as I have carefully ordered the materials that will be needed this year. Please remember that this cost also covers all art supplies and photocopying. I would ask that each student have a 2”zipper type binder, a calculator, 1 small packet of kleenex, small pencil sharpener, 3-5 whiteboard dry erase markers, a pair of ear buds or ear phones, hand sanitizer.
- GYM STRIP required for PE classes (running shoes, change of shirt and shorts/sweatpants, deodorant).
- CELLPHONES/ iPHONES- are NOT allowed to be on during school hours and must be stored in lockers at all times including recess and lunch.
- LUNCH TIME- students are permitted to go home for lunch (please provide note). Whenever leaving building please sign out a the office
- ABSENCES: If your child is sick or going away on holidays, please use the following: Safe Arrival Phone Number 1-844-350-2647 or ktsd.schoolconnects.com
When students are absent it is expected that they go onto the weebly and google classroom to complete missed assignments/projects - Sign IN/OUT- students are asked to inform teacher and then sign in/out at the office ANYTIME they leave the school grounds.
WEEBLY WEBSITE- This is an excellent tool to see what’s happening in class and what’s coming up so you don’t miss a thing. You can access this through the school website www.pacificway.sd73.bc.ca Look down the right side for Teacher Blogs and find Mrs. Wiwchar or https://wiwchar.weebly.com
Your support in these areas will be of great value to your son/daughter and myself. If you have any questions now or during the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]
Thanks again and I look forward to a great year :)
Yours truly,
Shelley Wiwchar
